BISC 206 is designed for students with a background in biology and chemistry whose career paths intersect with the study of microbes or for those simply interested in microbiology.
This course introduces the fundamental principles of microbiology, focusing on the diverse microbes that inhabit our planet and their impact on the biosphere and its inhabitants.
Here, we will examine this impact through the lens of various branches of microbiology. Students will evaluate the influence of microbes on our world while addressing 21st-century challenges and opportunities arising from our evolving relationship with these microorganisms.
Through a combination of lectures, laboratory work, assignments, and projects, students will delve into the science of microbes and develop the skills needed to address contemporary issues relevant to microbiology.
